The master study course Political Sciences in the field of Area Studies is a specializing, research-oriented study course resulting into another job-qualifying degree for professions in social sciences, political sciences and humanities, politics and administration, media and development cooperation, foreign cultural policy and international organizations.

The study course analyses the theoretical basics of identity formation as well as identity formation processes on the example of different areas (Latin America, Southern Asia, Baltic Sea Region/Eastern Europe). Thus, the students shall acquire an analytical and theoretical basis for deep scientific work on Area Studies. Terms abroad shall provide deeper knowledge on lective identities or on one of the abovementioned areas. In addition, the stay abroad serves for acquiring additional language skills and scientific mobility. To prepare the students adequately, related language courses provided by the university’s language center are obligatory for the students.
